New Business Platinum Card® cardholder, we’ve previously noted that May 31-June 1 is the last day of eligibility on a full year of 50% points rebates booked through Amex Travel, redeeming your MR Points on a desired airlines of your choice through Amex Travel, first or business class tickets.
However, the changes do not immediately affect those who signed up for or upgraded their Business Platinum Card between October 5, 2016-May 31, 2017. Those who fall in this category SHOULD be getting 50% rebate benefits for a whole year. This may not be the case since it seems that AMEX has been coding these “Grandfathered AMEX Business Platinum cards” improperly at a 35% rebate instead of the promised 50%.
Editor’s Note: When you sign up for the Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN, you can earn 50,000 Membership Rewards Points after you spend $10,000 in purchases and an extra 25,000 points after you spend an additional $10,000 all on qualifying purchases within your first 3 months of Card Membership.

Conclusion:
The updates should’ve already taken place for you new Business Platinum Card® cardholders who didn’t lock in the 50% Rebate for a whole year, however, it seems that those of you who have applied prior to or upgraded prior to May 31 have also been dealt with 35% Rebate instead of the promised 50% Rebate. Seems like Amex’s System has just lazily coded everyone as 35% rebate, so in all recommendation, I strongly urge that you check your rebate and talk to MR’s Customer Service Line and have them manually credit the difference.
