Rather unfortunate news as the Plenti Rewards program receives it’s share of blows. American Express will remove Plenti from Membership Rewards transfers in February of 2018. This comes after sums of reputable retailers pulled out of the program, and the Plenti credit card being discontinued.
Now, this news wouldn’t effect most people, but for those that actively used the MR transfer options/capabilities and cashed out Plenti Points at Macy’s, Rite Aid and Exxon or Mobil branded service stations, this could be discerning news depending on how much you value Plenti points.

Plenti Credit Card from Amex Summary:
- AMEX removes Plenti from Membership Reward Transfers starting February of 2018.
- Reputable retailers like AT&T pulls out from the Plenti Program
- Plenti Credit Card no longer up for grabs (discontinued)
In addition to closing the Plenti credit cards, American Express is also putting a stop towards all Membership Rewards point transfers to Plenti in this coming February.
“Effective February 2, 2018, Card Members will no longer be able to transfer Membership Rewards points to the Plenti rewards program.”
Conclusion:
American Express plans to discontinue their Plenti Credit Card and transfer options towards Plenti Points starting February 2, 2018. This could stem from American Express still having a fixation towards being a luxury card-issuer outlet or because CEO Kenneth Chenault steps down, but it’s all speculation from there. Individuals found transferring to Plenti points useful for the 1:1 Membership Rewards: Plenti points transfer, essentially free gas at Exxon or Mobil. Now, if you got stack-tons of Plenti points, it’s advised that you use it either on: Gas at Exxon or Mobil, or Macy’s closeout sale. Gift card exclusions do apply.
