Everyone who’s had a past experience with Bank of America should know that they’ve recently integrated a new rule that allows you to get no more than 2 new Bank of America cards in 2 rolling months, and no more than 3 new BoA cards in 12 months. You will also be limited at 4 BoA cards in 24 months.
One approach that I definitely approve of is that they don’t limit you on approval because you have have other cards with other banks, so yes, this rule does seem relatively more flexible over other credit card issuers, however it does take it’s toll, especially with prospects on their more popular cards (Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card, Bank of America Premium Rewards Credit Card).

Bank of America New Approval Rule Summary:
- You can only get approved for two new Bank of America credit card within a rolling 2 months
- You can only get approved for three new Bank of America credit card within a rolling 12 months
- You can only get approved for four new Bank of America credit card within a rolling 24 months
- People who have been applying for many cards will either receiving a denial or initially approval that turns into a “approved in error” notification.
Conclusion:
Bank of America used to be unmatched with easier approval than other banks, but stretching into 2018, they continually get stricter and this rule will limit those considered “non-profitable customers” under their wing. Currently, it’s still possible to get a personal and business card in one day, however, I wouldn’t wait on it considering that business cards could count to this new Bank of America approval rule at any time now.
The maximum amount of cards you can get approved for in a year is three credit cards, so it’d make sense that you plan accordingly. My ideal line-up at the moment would have to be the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card, Premium Rewards Credit Card, and the Cash Rewards Credit Card.
