Style
On the outside, Hotel ZaZa looks like an extended-stay hotel. But don’t judge this property by its cover. Inside, the lobby featured an eclectic mix of decorative features from around the world, like dramatic drapes, tribal accents, Moroccan lanterns and Mother of Pearl inlay chairs. The dimly lit space helped to foreshadow the quirky yet sexy ambiance of the rest of the hotel.
Rooms
Hotel ZaZa offers 169 rooms, suites and bungalows, most of which vary in size, design and feel. Our 645-square-foot bungalow featured a living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and a beautiful front porch. You’ll love the upholstered, nailhead-trimmed headboard, work desk with Eames chair and the Helmut Newton photographs. The bathroom was especially decadent, with a marble vanity, soaking tub, separate rain shower and C.O. Bigelow toiletries. Our room rate included complimentary high-speed WiFi, breakfast and a nightly fire in the Bungalow courtyard.
If you want to go all out, opt for one of Hotel ZaZa’s themed suites. From Far East – think Japanese Zen – to the Cuban-style West Indies and the Texas Suite, complete with cowhide upholstery.
Facilities
Our favorite hotel feature was the small pool by the lobby, with plenty of lounge chairs, plush benches and pretty fountains. It’s quite the scene with DJs and a fashionable local crowd.
Hotel ZaZa also featured an in-house spa, gym and business center. There were ballrooms for weddings and events, plenty of meeting spaces, and WiFi was free throughout the hotel.
Food & Drink
Hotel ZaZa’s Dragonfly restaurant, along with the poolside bar, are among the city’s top hotspots. Dragonfly is a modern American gourmet kitchen, serving up hip food and creative cocktails. Signature dishes include the pan-seared ribeye, blackened red snapper and the lobster roll.
The bustling bar by the pool is a local favorite with an al fresco garden atmosphere and a gorgeous view of the city skyline.
Service
Hotel ZaZa’s cool vibe did not hinder the excellent service. All staff took their time and effort to make sure you leave the hotel feeling like you had a blast.
Location
Hotel ZaZa is located on the edge of the West Village, an area known for its excellent nightlife and high-end boutiques. We had access to running and biking trails nearby at Robert E. Lee Park, and the Dallas Museum of Art and American Airlines Center took just four minutes by car. Kalita Humphreys Theater, McKinney Avenue and the Dallas Aquarium were also a short drive away.
Address: 2332 Leonard Street, Dallas.
