Aer Lingus Card Avios Bonus
Earn 85,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.
What are Aer Lingus Avios Worth?
Compared to other airline branded credit cards, depending on how you decide to use your Avios will reflect their value. Typically, every Avios will be worth about $0.015. This is a great value for the bonus Avios.
You are able to redeem your Avios towards:
- Flights
- Hotel stays
- Car rentals
- Experiences
- Wine
- Seat reservations & upgrades
- Inflight M&S food & beverages
To receive the best value for your Avios, then you should redeem them towards flights. Other choices will tend to decrease your Avios values.
Take caution, when you redeem your Avios for transatlantic flights they are known for having crazy purchases (taxes, fees, carrier charges). With the offer terms for Aer Lingus card even gave this example:
“At time of this publication all reward flights and travel together tickets are subject to taxes, fees and carrier charges of approximately $682 – $1,250 per adult in economy or $1,250 in business class based on travel from Seattle to London.”
It would be a better choice to redeem them for a shorter domestic flight. make use of transferring your Avios to Iberia or British Airways mileage systems.
This way you will get the Oneworld Alliance partner airlines available for redeeming your bonus Avios.
Also, remember your Avios will expire if you don’t use them in any way in 36 months. So be sure to use them before then or they’ll disappear forever.

Conclusion
This Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Card is a great rewards card to have.
It will be very beneficial for you if you spend the required minimum to receive the whole welcome bonus and annual companion pass each year.
But, if you don’t normally fly to Ireland at least one time each year, then you should consider getting a general travel rewards card instead.
Chase has 3 airline branded credit cards that can gain Avios rewards. These cards all have common bonus offer and ongoing benefits.
With these cards, you will be able to gain Avios rewards for expenses on all 3 airlines.
You will also be able to redeem Avios on these airlines. Every card has benefits that are a little different from the rest. There’s the credit cards and where they’re from listed:
- Aer Lingus Visa Signature® – Ireland
- British Airways Visa Signature Card – United Kingdom
- Iberia Visa Signature – Spain
Unfortunately, Aer Lingus isn’t in the Oneworld Alliance. In other words, you aren’t able to redeem your Avios for flights that are on their partner list. But, both British Airways and Iberia are in the Oneworld Alliance.
With that in mind, it has more redemption choices for their partner airlines. AerClub members are able to transfer their Avios to the Iberia Plus or British Airways Executive Club account.
