VOILÀ Hotel Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card Review: 20,000 Bonus Points

Commerce Bank recently launched a credit card with VOILÀ Hotel Rewards and if you aren’t quite familiar with Voila; they offer a variety of independent hotel chains that brings us to the question… is this card really worth the entitled 20,000 Bonus Points, when you make the $1,000 in purchases within the first 90 days of account opening of course. Point earning is as followed: You will earn 5 points per $1 spent at VOILA’s participating hotels, and 1 point per $1 spent where VISA is accepted. On top of that, you will earn an additional 50% Bonus on your purchases at VOILA’s participating hotels when you make $10,000 in purchases each year and on top of a no annual fee… This card does offer quite the attraction.

VOILÀ Point Value:

With Voila, your points can either be redeemed for Award nights or with their Airlines Partners. However, their airlines partners offers an inevitably terrible redemption rate. To further reiterate the redemption value, you will need 33,333 VOILA points just to exchange for 100 American Advantage Gift Card Dollars. So in all, it is not recommended that you use your points for airlines redemption. In addition, it’s necessary to point out that if you’re looking for better airlines rewards, that you check out the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express. Both these cards do have an attached annual fee, so the Barclaycard JetBlue MasterCard® could be a better option for some.

Going back on topic, when you redeem for awards nights, points may correlate with the room rate that you received at the specific hotel. Redemption will start at 10,000 points and will give you a value of roughly 1.3 cent per point. Also, you should take into account that they are currently offering a 25% discount on award nights

Conclusion:

Commerce Bank and VOILA has set their efforts to giving us a VOILÀ Hotel Rewards VISA Signature and in doing so, they are currently offering a decent 20,000 Bonus Points when you make a spend of $1,000 within 90 days of account opening with this card. Not a bad offer considering that this card does have no annual fees, but keep in mind that this card is quite limited when it comes to reaping the 5x and could be a further nuisance judging by the premise that a select few hotel chains will be participating. On another note, the 50% bonus is rather attractive but the spending theshold of $10,000 each year for their participating hotels is far-stretch to me and definitely something un-attainable for me.
